Dragon boat racing

Are you ready to put your pace to the test? Port of Dover is raring to go with Regatta 2024 Dragon Boat races – Saturday 6th July.

Dragon Boat races are now open for entries.

Details of what looks set to be the most competitive Dover Regatta have been announced, with a weekend extravaganza in store as the Dover Rowing Club’s own Regatta takes place the following day on Sunday 7th July.

The Port is calling for entries for its main event; the 2024 Dragon Boat races on Saturday 6th July. Plus, for the first time, there will be a swimming gala and the chance to explore the new RNLI lifeboat station and Dover Sailing School.

Hitting the Waterfront just in time for summer, the Port of Dover Regatta offers one of the first opportunities of the season to experience Kent’s vibrant coast. Spanning across the seafront, and the newly revived Marina Curve and Clocktower Square, there will be fun activities for the whole family, local street food and drink and of course, more action-packed water-based competitions. All funds raised will be donated to Dover Lifeguard Club and Pegasus Playscheme.

Diederik Smet, Placemaking, Events and Partnerships Manager at the Port of Dover said:

“It’s been brilliant to see the community making the most of Dover’s fantastic waterfront all year round. With our popular Music on the Curve and Dover Waterfront parkrun continuing to attract more people every week, plus a growing collection of food outlets and recreational opportunities, the Town is becoming the perfect hub for relaxing on the coast.”

“The Regatta is a day not to be missed, and we look forward to working with our local partners, charities, and businesses to provide amazing memories for the whole family once again.”

*Criteria for Dragon Boat racing:

  • Team registration is £50 per team of 13 people (12 paddlers, 1 drummer)
  • All participants must be at least 18 years old, and capable of swimming a minimum of 25 metres whilst wearing a Personal Flotation Device.

Further details will be announced soon – keep an eye out for more details on how to enter the swimming gala.

The Dover Rowing Club Regatta is a separate event on Sunday 7th July. Clubs from Herne Bay all the way down the coast to Southsea will compete in around 22 different races in fours, pairs, and singles. For more information, go to
