Beach Re-profiling Works – October 2022

Please be advised that between Monday 10th and Thursday 13th October 2022, beach re-profiling works will be taking place to re-address the natural build-up of shingle against the New Marina Pier.

The works will move shingle across the beach to the east side of the slipway, adjacent to the promenade, and will run from 07.00-19.00 each day.

These works form an essential part of the Port of Dover’s Beach Maintenance Strategy, and usually have to take place approximately every six months due to the natural build-up of shingle at the west end of the beach. These works will ensure a safe and pleasant visit year-round for all beach users, providing a more user-friendly and even gradient across the beach.

The works will be undertaken by a local Civils contractor overseen by our Civils framework provider, Knights Brown, who will have overarching management and health and safety responsibilities. Knights Brown will be placing, and maintaining local works advisory information boards and marshalling all vehicular movements.

The beach will remain open to all users, with just the main areas where the excavators are working being fenced off to the West end of the beach. Trucks will be escorted by marshals during the beach movements.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these essential works but expect that there will be minimal disruption during this period.
