Port of Dover Sponsorship Scheme 2024 now open for applications.

Following an inspiring first year of medals, new teams and competitions at the top level, the Port of Dover Sponsorship Scheme is back for 2024 after making a huge impact on the lives of local young people. The campaign drives positive mental health and wellbeing within the under 18’s community, providing a promising outlook for future generations by helping to make dreams become reality.

The first ever Scheme, which launched in May last year, saw nine different sponsorships of up to £5000 awarded to groups and individuals. The funding formed more diverse sports teams, purchased new kit and apparatus and recruited professional coaches.

Alex Dack from Deal Triathlon Club and the Southeast Triathlon Academy said:

“The Sponsorship has enabled me to achieve my sporting goals and continue to thrive in my passion of Triathlon, being currently ranked number 1 triathlete in the UK as a youth athlete. It has allowed me to fund my racing and training journey as I grow and improve as an athlete.”

Some of the Port’s sponsorship stars from the past year proudly told their story at the Annual Consultative Meeting (ACM) last night, including Ollie Scott, a member of the British Para Triathlon Academy, who finished 2nd overall in the 2023 Para Super Series.

Kaela Cheffins from The Alkham Valley Project spoke of how she competed in national competitions for the first time in Para Dressage, moving another step closer to her dream of representing Great Britain at the Paralympics.

Jenny Beacon, CSR and Community Executive at the Port of Dover said:

“A year on since we launched our first ever Sponsorship Scheme specifically aimed at under 18’s, it’s been incredible to see the difference it has already made on these talented superstars always aspiring to achieve more. We are proud to represent them and are excited to see where our support will go next.”
