Port of Dover Delivers Smooth Start to Busy Easter Getaway

30/03/26

The Port of Dover successfully managed the first of the Easter season weekends, demonstrating strong operational partnerships.

Across Friday 27th and Saturday 28th March, over 8,000 cars in total were efficiently processed by Police Aux Frontières (PAF), with an average wait time of just 8 minutes, ensuring smooth journeys for thousands of passengers.

This achievement reflects the hard work and coordination of all teams involved, as well as effective planning to handle the seasonal surge in traffic, helping travellers reach their destinations with minimal disruption during one of the year’s peak travel periods.

Traffic for the forthcoming weekend is expected to see customer travel focused primarily on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd as people take advantage of the long Easter bank holiday weekend.  The port is expecting around 9,000 cars over the two days.
