Port of Dover thanks everyone working through Christmas to get stranded drivers home

At this special time of the year, when we all want to be close to our families, the Port of Dover wishes to thank everyone who will be giving up time with their own families to keep the massive logistical operation in Kent going to get drivers back across the Channel and home to their loved ones throughout the festive period.

Christmas is a time of giving, and giving up time with families to help reunite those who are far away from theirs is a special gift. Thanks also to all of the agencies, charitable and voluntary organisations who continue to play a vital role in looking after the drivers and to our community who have been so affected by the situation.

The Port of Dover, working with our sister ports in France, working with our ferry operators and both the French and UK border agencies to put everything in place, have all mobilised and their staff have responded to ensure that the Port of Dover will remain open throughout Christmas. It will not shut and will keep operating as we continue the work to get everyone on their way and get the Port and town of Dover and the wider community back to normal as soon as possible.

Thank you all.
