Welcome
The Port of Dover Defined Contribution Pension Scheme is a Group Personal Pension Plan (GPPP) provided in partnership with Royal London, the UK’s largest mutual life and pensions company.
Port of Dover Defined Contribution (DC) Pension Scheme
The Final Salary Pension Scheme closed to future accrual of benefit on 31 May 2016. All employees were automatically enrolled into the Defined Contribution (DC) Pension Scheme from 1 June 2016. This Scheme is also available to all new employees commencing after 1 June 2016.
Three months after joining the Port of Dover, you will be automatically enrolled into the Defined Contribution (DC) Pension Scheme. You may wish to join the Scheme before the three months’ date. You will receive information about the Scheme directly from Royal London to enable you to start managing your pension online. If you wish, you can make choices about how your pension pot is invested, but you don’t have to. You may opt out of the automatic enrolment process by telephoning Royal London on the number they provide in their information pack. If you wish to stay in the Scheme you do not have to do anything. Your personal details will be passed to Royal London, and your pension will start building from when the first payment has been made.
You will receive a statement each year from Royal London showing how much money has gone into your pension pot, how it is performing and an estimate of your pension at retirement age if you remain a member until then.
Contributions
On joining the Scheme, you have the choice of what level of contribution you wish to make. For further information, please see page 6 of the Scheme booklet.
To confirm your required contribution level, please complete the “Contribution Option Form” you received in your induction pack or click on the “Forms” button below. Completed forms should be returned to the Payroll Team (Payroll@portofdover.com).
As an extra benefit, on joining the Scheme you will also receive a lump sum death-in-service cover. So that the lump sums payable on your death can be paid free of inheritance tax, the Trustees of the Group Life Assurance Scheme make the final decision over who should receive this benefit. However, they will also take your wishes into account and so you should complete an Expression of Wish form to let them know what your wishes are. Please click on the “Forms” button below for a copy of the Expression of Wish Form. You should complete a new form if your circumstances change (for example if you get married or divorced, if your civil partnership is dissolved, or if you have children).
